MRF-NEW BEGINNING will submit a proposal to keep measures which exempt bread and flour from VAT and maintain the 9% VAT rate for the restaurant business. Our decision is dictated by the sharp rise in the prices of bread and bakery products, essential for Bulgarian families in the first days of the year. This sharp rise is due to the return of 20% VAT from January 1.
We consider it unacceptable for people and businesses to have to pay the price of political instability and the inability of parties to appoint a regular government. We have also proposed a moratorium on electricity prices, until the situation with the Electricity Distribution Companies is resolved. We therefore insist on the permanent establishment of differentiated VAT rates.
All the measures which we have proposed are related to people receiving support in a politically unstable situation and as as response to our principles that politics should be addressed to and for the benefit of the people.
