Once again, the public has been scandalised by the court's arrogant attitude towards another murderer on the road: the decision of the Pleven District Court to release Dimitar Dimitrov with a bail of EUR 8,000. On Wednesday morning, Dimitrov destroyed the car driven by anesthesiologist Dr. Tsvetan Kostadinov and killed the doctor.
The Prosecutor's Office insisted that Dimitrov remain in custody because he could abscond or commit a new crime. In the courtroom, Deputy District Prosecutor of Pleven motivated his reasons that Dimitrov has been sanctioned 24 times for violations of the Road Traffic Act, and his last sanction was this month. In addition, his license was revoked due to alcohol use.
The Pleven District Court cannot or does not want to hear the just anger of people who have lost loved ones in the war on the road and the strong public need for justice.
In response to this blatant injustice, I will submit a report to the Inspectorate of the SJC and will insist on the activation of all legal mechanisms for control and assessment of the integrity of the magistrates who made this decision.
