Today, the National Assembly adopted the proposal by the Parliamentary Group of DPS–NEW BEGINNING to establish a Temporary Committee to determine the facts and circumstances related to the activities of George Soros, Alexander Soros, and their foundations that finance Bulgarian individuals, legal entities, and non-governmental organizations, as well as to examine their connections with political parties, magistrates, educational institutions, media, business structures, and state authorities.
The Committee is tasked with investigating the network of individuals and structures operating since 1990, built around Soros’s main foundation — the “Open Society Institute.”
For years, these individuals, in addition to their presence in the non-governmental sector, have gradually been embedded within the administration, educational institutions, political parties, the judiciary, the media, and the business community. This has created conditions for both overt and covert influence over key socio-political and economic processes in the country.
The network of individuals and organizations poses a threat to the rule of law, as these activities — being financed and coordinated by George Soros, Alexander Soros, and their foundations — are entirely in private interest. In this way, the fundamental principles of democracy are undermined and the foundations of the state are eroded, because the capture of power structures, political mechanisms, and public systems in service of one person leads to nothing less than de facto dictatorship.
The Parliamentary Group of DPS–NEW BEGINNING insists that, upon completion of the Committee’s work, adequate measures be taken to eliminate this influence and to prevent any further interference aimed against Bulgaria’s national interests and the security of its citizens.
