Mustafa Karadayi: MRF improves its election result, appeals for responsibility and dialogue

Once more, Bulgarian voters did not single any party to run this country. They sent a strong signal that politicians in Bulgaria should talk to each other, initiate a dialogue, and seek a coalition to solve the problems of the people. This was announced by Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) chairman Mustafa Karadayi at a news conference held at the party's headquarters after the end of the election day.

Early parliamentary elections were held in Bulgaria on October 2, 2022. According to 100% of the quick count by Gallup International the MRF won 15.2% of the votes and is going to be the third largest force in the coming 48th National Assembly. The Movement substantially improved its election result compared to the previous polls on November 14, 2021, when it had 13 percent of the votes.

We thank all Bulgarian citizens who voted for the MRF. Again, we enhance our election result. We receive support because we serve the Bulgarian citizens, Karadayi said. He extended special thanks to the Movement’s local structures, which again helped ameliorate the outcome of the MRF participation in the elections.

Voters gave us a clear sign that a steady majority must be formed in Bulgaria, a majority that will create a stable government and provide security to the citizens of Bulgaria, the chairman of the MRF said. He added that the reason for this appeal is to alleviate "the many crises we experience, the top of which is the political crisis".

It is exactly the political crisis that must be resolved first. And this can only be achieved through restoring normality and dialogue in politics. Bulgarian citizens do not vote for politicians who hate each other and act with revenge. Instead, they vote for lawmakers that seek solutions to people's problems. We need dialogue, not dividing lines, Karadayi pointed out.

Thus, our appeal to everyone in the new 48th National Assembly will be to overcome their egos and seek unity for the sake of overcoming the crises and solving the problems of the people, the MRF leader also said.

The dividing lines from the election campaign and supposed alliances remain there – in the pre-election period, Karadai replied to a reporter's question of whether MRF will participate in a governing coalition with GERB and Democratic Bulgaria – a hypothesis created by GERB leader Boiko Borisov a week ago.

Starting tomorrow, when we will have an elected and sitting National Assembly, we are ready to talk to everyone who is responsible enough to solve people's problems and overcome the crises. We can negotiate with each of them on the search for various options for a stable parliamentary majority and a stable government, Mustafa Karadayi said and reminded that the motto of the Movement's campaign was ‘Security and Stability’.

We also see how much our Euro-Atlantic partners are worried about the political crisis in Bulgaria. Regarding this worry, we are certain that someone must bear the responsibility for the change. We are firm in our opinion that the situation is complicated and requires commitment, not whims and dividing lines, the MRF chairman said.

Regardless of whether or not a mandate will be handed to the MRF to form a government, starting today we will be calling for dialogue in the search for solutions, the MRF leader specified. He added that MRF is ready to negotiate with everyone who will bear the responsibility for solving people's problems, for resolving the crises, and for closely co-operating with Bulgaria's strategic partners.
