Four weeks, eight plenary days and more than 30 votes in the Bulgarian Parliament have done nothing more than to reveal the most helpless face of politicians and parties: all ready to betray their country, the trust of the people and the future of the children of this country, in the name of preserving their positions and power.
They have set up demarcation lines, cordons and barriers; they have attempted to create all manner of unprincipled unions, through bargaining, petty and massive intrigue. They have cast incantations, made oaths and promises of common fronts and shared benefits and the guardianship of a false political elite against the denial of justice, responsibility and values.
They have created unthinkable alliances with pro-Russian and anti-democratic parties. The PP-DB allied themselves with Vazrazhdane. The Agrarians embraced Rashkov. All down to their thirst for power: for prime ministers, ministers, heads of committees, heads of agencies, regulators, all for portions of power. These are the facts.
However, this is not a game, but criminal conduct in violation of democratic principles and Euro-Atlantic values.
This egregious state of affaris is causing severe damage by destroying parliamentarism and statehood.
This has to stop and we have to go to elections. The time for games is over.
What is at stake is Bulgaria and how its people live.
Speaking for the MRF— A NEW BEGINNING I want to be absolutely clear - neither our voters nor we, as their leaders, would sit at the same table with those who are willing to sell the interests of their country: with their schemes in the Customs Administration, with purveyors of fake signatures, Agrarians embracing those who tortured their own kin, violators of the Constitution, fake academics and fake moralisers. Those who on a daily basis betray the trust of the people who vote for them.
In this failed 51st parliament, we do not intend to propose either a Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly, nor do we want Chairs of parliamentary committees: we want nothing which will make us part of this Game of Thrones, which is so offensive to the voters.
I call upon these failed politicians to come out tomorrow, take responsibility and elect a speaker of the National Assembly, in order to free up the Constitutional procedure and to prepare for elections.
We are not afraid of elections, on the contrary. The trust and support of our people is growing stronger, which gives us the full confidence that we are on the right track. They believe and know that we will never again allow them to be treated as second class people.
Those who are afraid of elections are the same ones who lied for four years and seven consecutive parliamentary elections, and those who believed in them. Today the truth about their irresponsibility and personal vested interest is ringing true. Notwithstanding the media manipulations, notwithstanding the false sociological propaganda, notwithstanding the countless lies that have been told. Just as a fake sociology has failed globally, their model too has historically run its course.
They fear three things: a strong MRF-A NEW BEGINNING, a strong presidential project and serious condemnation by the voters. Because then they will no longer be part of the political stage.
So let us go to the ballot box and accept what the people instruct - so be it. What is certain is that this vote will change Bulgaria.
Bulgaria needs this real change and we will help lour country heal itself from the political void and the profound crisis of the political status quo.
People want to be led by leaders, not cowards.
Bulgaria must be ruled by people with hearts who can and do take responsibility.
And from this moment forward, I want to clearly state as leader of the MRF-A NEW BEGINNING, should we obtain this trust from the people, I will take this responsibility.
