The Parliamentary Group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms will vote in favour of allowing the positioning of up to eight refuelling aircraft at the Bezmer air base, as requested in a note from the US Embassy. From the information which we have received, it is clear that the request is connected to providing support for US operations in the Middle East and refer to the bi-lateral agreement for defence cooperation signed between Bulgaria and the USA in 2006.
Our position comes from our firm conviction as a Euro-Atlantic party that we need incontrovertibly to stand up for our values and to be a loyal and predictable partner as a European and NATO member country.
