The chairman of MRF and the parliamentary caucus of MRF Delyan Peevski supports the position of the Atlantic Council of Bulgaria, which called on Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev for a firm position regarding "Russia's increasingly brazen hybrid aggression"
In its letter today the organization draws attention to an incident on August 29, when the Bulgarian citizen Alexandra Mileva was arrested for expressing a civil position in front of the Russian "cultural and information" center. Subsequently, the court declared the arrest illegal, which, according to the ASB, calls into question the actions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and their possible dependence on pro-Russian forces.
ASB thus warns about hybrid events organized by pro-Russian organizations in Bulgaria, as an example an event in Sofia on June 1-2, supported by a number of "Bulgarian" structures and the Russian embassy, is cited. According to the ASB, these events are aimed at propagating the Russian imperial narrative and gathering information about potential collaborators.
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms, through its chairman Delyan Peevski, reminds the recommendations of the Council to the government, including the closure of the Russian "cultural and information" center and the "House of Moscow" in Sofia, as well as the confiscation of the "Kamchia" sanatorium-rehabilitation complex . It also insists on continuing the dismantling of the Soviet monument in Sofia and reducing the number of Russian diplomats in Bulgaria to the level of the Bulgarian representation in Moscow.
ASB expresses fears that the passivity of the Bulgarian institutions may lead to a serious threat to the freedom and independence of the country and insists on decisive actions to protect Bulgarian national interests.
