The Parliamentary Group of the MRF-NEW BEGINNING held a series of meetings related to the law submitted by the Parliamentary Group of the MRF-NEW BEGINNING on the maximum price mark-up of goods included in the "consumer shopping basket".
The leading principles which motivate the introduction of this draft law are the protection of consumers, especially the most vulnerable consumer groups, the protection of citizens who face unjustifiably high prices and the support of Bulgarian food producers.
They stressed that their goal with this law is to help the poorest Bulgarian citizens for a limited period of time for a limited list of goods during the transitional period of changing the base currency.
The meetings also touched upon the topic of the overall policy of "Food security", which is the largest and most important strategic goal globally.
The meeting hosts on behalf of the Parliamentary Group of the MRF-NEW BEGINNING were Deputy chairpersons of the MRF and the Parliamentary Group of the MRF-NEW BEGINNING Iskra Mihaylova, Yordan Tsonev, Stanislav Anastasov and Atidzhe Veli, member of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture.
A meeting was also held with representatives of associations from the agricultural and processing industry with the participation of Konstantin Azov from the Association of Vegetable Oils, Teodora Georgieva from the Association of Agricultural Producers, Dr. Dilyana Popova from the Association of Meat Processors in Bulgaria, Natalia Shukadarova and Tsvetomira Staykova from the National Association of Grain Producers, Petya Kumanova from the National Sheep and Goat Breeding Association, and Yana Stratieva from the Food and Beverage Association.
The meeting with the representatives of the Chambers of Commerce of the partner countries of Bulgaria was attended by Dr. Horst Steuer - President of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Matthias Denner – Head of the Economic Department at the Embassy of Germany, Ivan Mihaylov - Chief Executive Officer of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, Vessela Todorova-Mozettig - Director of the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Snezhana Atanasova - Marketing Specialist at the Austrian Trade Representation, Sonya Miklay - Chief Manager of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Daniel Kiriakov - Communications Manager of the American Chamber of Commerce.
