The Parliamentary Group of the MRF - NEW BEGINNING has alerted institutions about the garbage crisis in Sofia.

The Parliamentary Group of the MRF-NEW BEGINNING has alerted the Minister of Environment Manol Genov and Minister of Health Silvi Kirilov, as well as the heads of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water - Sofia - Irena Petkova and the Regional Health Inspectorate - Sofia - Dancho Penchev about the garbage crisis in Sofia.
The letter says :
"It is within the competence of the institutions led by you to undertake strict sanctions, to declare a state of emergency and commit organisational resources of the state to deal with the environmental catastrophe and the upcoming health crisis.
In a modern state it is unacceptable for state institutions to watch the capital city transformed into a garbage tip, where children and the elderly cannot move on the streets because of the mountains of waste.
Despite the arrogant statements of Mayor Terziev, the smell, the wind-carried bags, the decaying food waste and the huge piles at public transport stops, at the entrances of residential and public buildings, promises will not make these growing piles of waste disappear.
Do we really want contagious disease, infections and risks to human health to spread?
We insist, demand and will continue to demand on behalf of all citizens of Sofia that you apply the full severity of the law and protect the health, life and living environment of the residents of the capital of Bulgaria.
The mayor of Sofia Municipality and his team are unable, and incapable of resolving this, they do not even have a sense of responsibility to the citizens of Sofia to admit their helplessness and bankruptcy. They must be removed. The state must resolve this problem. "
