“Today’s events in the Middle East are a serious test for international security, but also for the national integrity of Bulgaria on the international stage.
“The military operation against Iran is changing the strategic environment and requires responsible and measured reactions.
At times like this, it is most important that the state act with reason and equanimity, as well as a clear vision for the security of its citizens.
Institutions need to act, not to talk. The government, albeit an interim government, needs to demonstrate security, and not fear and helplessness.
In order to manage the crisis, the interim cabinet needs to cooperate with the National Assembly as the supreme institution in the parliamentary republic, instead of engaging in political intrigue and serve private party interests, as it did today.
At the present moment, there is no direct threat to the security of Bulgaria, but such international crises require heightened vigilance and coordination.
Also at moment like this, political differences need to take a backseat to the national interest. As institutions, parties and society, we are obliged to act together, with self-control and responsibility to the people.”
