The government's intention to cut the money of Bulgarian pensioners is scandalous! This is a false start for the Zhelyazkov cabinet with the political mandate of GERB. The Bulgarian Socialist Party is also a coalition partner and it is to them that social policy is entrusted.
Refusal to apply the Swiss rule will reduce the expected increase in pensions by nearly 50%. The media have raised alarms about the decision which was quietly inserted into the new 2025 draft budget for state social security.
There is and cannot be a single good reason to justify this attack on pensioners. Is the extent of the power of this government - to take from the most defenceless?! How then will they face their own voters?!
Neither the MRF-NEW BEGINNING nor I, as its leader, will accept this humiliation of the elderly in Bulgaria. We will use all possible means of parliamentary and civil pressure to prevent this.
The degree of civilisation of a society is judged by the care it takes for the weakest, the helpless and the elderly. Our grandparents, mothers and fathers do not deserve to be deprived of the opportunity to live a decent old age and remuneration for their years of work.
